Continued some changes this morning regarding mainly the ND-DOT cams here in North Dakota. The DOT made a minor change to the directory paths, so I needed to fix those. Otherwise, I removed a couple of other cams, one in Grand Forks and another in Bismarck that are no longer in operation.

I finished up adding and editing the traffic-cams along I-80 in Southern Wyoming this afternoon. I should have all new DOT cams plotted in Wyoming now.

I also noticed some formatting errors in the Database file, so cleaned that up some... These were in the separation tags between the direction information and alternative cam links in the infoWindows.

Those should be taken care of for consistency purposes.

Just noticed moments ago that the webcam atop the parking garage in downtown Grand Forks, ND is operational once again. The cam went inoperable almost 2 years ago so I hadn't listed it since.

So, we have another cam in Grand Forks now... It faces the convergence of the Red Lake River and the Red River.

I had a co-worker shoot me an E-mail last evening concerning a few cams he had found in and around the Jamestown, ND area.

So, I spent about a half-hour adding these. They actually were alternate cams for the one I already had from the same source. So, I only added a link to them from the infoWindow for the one I already have. They were all java applets, as well, and couldn't pull a static image.

While playing around though, I did find a new static web-cam in Jamestown.

The cams along I-70 were a bit difficult to place and in most of these locations, there isn't enough light to place features. So, I'll hold out until tomorrow to get more of these completed.

If I have some time at work, I may put some effort into it. If not, I'll put some time in after work tomorrow evening or on Saturday. I did post a couple more and edited the cam at Salina to fix a broken URL.

It's been a long while since I've actually edited, added or removed any webcams, but today I had some extra time at work to do so. Mainly started going through and doing some maintenance. That's needed most of all, so will likely slowly start going through all my cams.

I'm beginning in the northeast and will slowly progress to the south and west. As such, New Hampshire was first up. I made some fixes on URLs and some minor location fixes on a few cams. Added a few more across the state, mainly in and around the Pittsburg, NH area, however, added a couple of others. Also, added a couple in Maine, however won't official add Maine to the state index on the main page yet. With only two cams (at one location), it's not worth adding it.

I learned about an hour ago that Google released Version 3 of their API, so I've upgraded the WCN Application to v3. If you happen to see any problems, let me know.

The new version doesn't change much. Much of the improvements, apparently, are "under-the-hood." I've noticed it does make the API load and run more efficiently. In primary tests, it appears that tiles load much quicker and even custom tiles seem to load faster.

So, all in all, the application should run a little better now.

The rest of this afternoon, I tried to figure out a work-around for the TrafficLand cameras for V-DOT. I thought I had figured something out, by using the widget code that you can generate for use from TrafficLand, but to no avail.

It seems that an identification number is generated when you view each camera image, but then expires after a set amount of time. How long that is, I really haven't a clue. Additionally, I have no idea how to refresh the ID. I can't link to images if the source URL is constantly changing!

So, I may have to do without the V-DOT images altogether. Either that, or plot the cams, and link them all to the TrafficLand site.

If anyone knows of a work-around, or an alternative site I can grab these images, let me know.

For good measure, I did add a camera in Cynthiana, Kentucky that DOES have a static URL!

I came across some web-cams at the University of Minnesota this morning, so I quickly jumped on Google Earth, found some coordinates and added these. If you navigate to the Metro zoom of Minneapolis, you should see these.

I noticed today a few new cameras in Indiana on the AWS/Instacam network, so I added these this afternoon. It's nice to see the Kokomo, IN cam back in operation, while it looks like the Newburgh and Akron cams are from hi-def. cameras. Pretty nice!

A lot of initial/secondary implementations this afternoon... The details are below, but I've added all sorts of new features.

Among these, and most beneficial are the radar overlay I was able to get operation from the IEM (Iowa-State Environmental Mesonet) and adding the Terrain mapType to the maps.

In the meantime, I added and edited several cams, including those in Wyoming, especially, and several in Indiana, Georgia, New York, Colorado, and California. New Hampshire and South Dakota also saw some additions and minor edits.
